The melting point and boiling point of selenium are 217 and 685 respectively. It is better to react at high temperature and become the oxides in the design components of glass.
Close contact between selenium and adsorbent in glass batch is another key problem to reduce selenium volatilization. Therefore, selenium and its adsorbent must be pre-bonded together so that they can not be separated in the preparation of the mixture as far as possible.
The principle of selenium saving of selenium masterbatch is to use special technology to bind selenium adsorbent with selenium powder, so that the two adsorbents can not be separated in the mixture preparation. In this way, the selenium powder is adsorbed by adsorbent before the formation of the vitreous body, the volatilization is reduced significantly, and finally melts into the vitreous body.
Selenium masterbatch for glass coloring has been successfully applied. 21 tons of Selenium masterbatch can be made from 1 ton of Selenium powder. It can be used according to 9.5% Selenium content, equivalent to about 2 tons of Selenium powder. That is to say, the selenium saving rate reaches 50%. The material introduced in selenium masterbatch is melted at high temperature and transformed into glass design component. As long as the masterbatch is brought into the batching table, the chemical composition of glass remains unchanged.
